As superheroes of some sort, they knew their responsibility of what it takes to save the world over choosing themselves. What does it mean for their ending?

The Hargreeves are Nowhere To Be Seen, What Does It Mean?
Outside the Apocalypse and traveling between alternate timelines, the Hargreeves' parental figures had been keeping a fatal secret from the Hargreeves children.
The seven Hargreeves siblings were connected because of their powers and their date of birth. However, what caused chaos in their distorted reality was the unknown substance they harbored as their powers called "Marigold."
What brought in the "Cleanse" project (one that would wipe out an entire timeline) is thanks to the existence of Jennifer, whose unknown substance of power is the opposite of Marigold — "Durango."
The catch is Ben and Jennifer can't help but feel emotionally connected to one another after years of never meeting each other. That caused world destruction to ensue.
Think of it as polar opposites that are forbidden from meeting, otherwise, it would cause the death of a million lives, hence, the "Cleanse" the fourth season kept bringing up to fans.
In Reginald's words, Ben and Jennifer's reunion "would have set off a cataclysmic chain of events" that would have wiped out humanity.
So, how else would the Hargreeves siblings be able to save the universe? Sacrificing themselves to save the rest of the existing timelines.
Five, given his teleportation powers, figures out a plan that the Hargreeves siblings should join hands together as Ben and Jennifer "merge."
For the last time, they get killed together as the Marigold shined from their bodies, the ending implying that every other branch of the timeline has finally lived in peace.
