Fans have been looking forward to the release of the upcoming third season of the hit Apple TV comedy series, Shrinking, and wondering when it will finally come out.
The Jason Segel-starring comedy has become one of the most popular series on the streamer due to its emotional depth and humor, the performances of the ensemble, and its light-hearted premise that is relatable to all audiences. This year, it received its first-ever Outstanding Comedy Series nomination at the Emmy Awards.
Now, all eyes are on the upcoming third season, and here's what we know so far regarding its release.
When is Shrinking Season 3 Coming Out on Apple TV?
Apple TV revealed that the third season of Shrinking is set to premiere globally with a one-hour episode on Wednesday, January 28.
The upcoming season will consist of 11 episodes. It will have a weekly release every Wednesday until the season finale on April 8.
The entire cast from the previous seasons, which includes Segel, Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley, is set to return.
A trailer was released, giving fans their first glimpse at what they should expect in the upcoming season, including the appearances of Jeff Daniels, who is set to play the father of Segel's character, and Michael J. Fox, making his return to TV, in a special role.
One of the highlights of the trailer is the scene between Ford's character, Dr. Paul Rhoades, and Fox's character as they joke about Parkinson's disease. As everyone knows, Fox has been diagnosed for decades, while Ford's character was diagnosed during the first season.
The upcoming season will also feature the return of previous guest stars, including co-creator Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders, who will reprise their roles.
What to Expect in Shrinking Season 3
In an interview, showrunner Bill Lawrence shared that the upcoming third season of Shrinking will explore the theme of "moving forward."
"But I think I’ve been public about saying the first year is about grief, the second year was about forgiveness, and the third year’s about moving forward," he said.
"I don’t think you can do this show about moving forward without knowing how that guy’s life moves forward, at least for an episode or two. So now I just got to leverage Brett into doing what I want him to do. He’s a very busy man. It’s very frustrating."
In case you're still not familiar with the series, it follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tells his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives, including his own.
