Lacey Chabert is set to make her movie comeback in the upcoming Netflix holiday romantic-comedy Hot Frosty.
For the past several years, it has been a tradition for Netflix to release original holiday movies during the Christmas season. This year is no exception as they have a couple of titles that are slated for release.
What is Hot Frosty About?
Hot Frosty, which will be released on Netflix this November 13, is another holiday rom-com offering from the streamer that also marks Chabert's comeback movie.
The official logline from Netflix: "Two years after losing her husband, Kathy magically brings a handsome snowman to life! Through his naivete, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel, and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays ... and before he melts."
While the film is indeed about some snowman, star Dustin Milligan has promised that there's still a warmth beneath the story.
"We’re not going to spoil it, but … Kathy’s backstory is something that actually grounds Hot Frosty in a bit more of a nice realistic, dramatic tone. Then, all of this sort of fun, silly stuff occurs afterward," he teased in an interview with Tudum.
Chabert added, "It’s really funny and light and lovely. But there is also a throughline of a lot of heart, and all of these characters are kind of going through something — whether it’s something more comedic or something more deeply emotionally rooted. I think this movie has a very special tone to it."
Who is Starring in Hot Frosty?
Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan (Schitt's Creek) are the main stars of Hot Frosty. They are playing Kathy and Jack the Snowman, respectively.
The supporting cast consists of Craig Robinson (The Office), Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Katy Mixon, Lauren Holly, and Chrishell Stause (Selling Sunset).
"I absolutely love Christmas, so to walk up to a set that is a full town completely decked out, I got instantly excited!" Stause said of her involvement in the Netflix holiday rom-com.
The Selling Sunset scene-stealer also praised her experience working with Chabert, "She is the absolute sweetest. When someone is the star of the movie and yet so gracious to everyone, regardless of how big their part is, it makes for such a happy crew and experience."
