Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio is hyping up the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, comparing it to Season 1 and not holding back on critiquing the latter.
Despite the praise the premiere season received, with critics noting it exceeded expectations, D’Onofrio teased that the next installment will be a significantly upgraded version.
So, what can fans expect from Daredevil Season 2, and how will it differ from the first season?
What Did Vincent D’Onofrio Say About Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

It all started when Wilson Bethel, who plays the semi-villainous Bullseye, discussed Daredevil Season 2 and compared it to the eight-episode first season at Rhode Island Comic Con. As he and co-star Deborah Ann Woll admitted they didn’t feel as connected to the Netflix series as they could have, D’Onofrio chimed in with his two cents.
“You guys are in for quite an intense season. It is intense. It is not a light storyline,” he teased (via CinemaBlend). “I mean, it’s f—ing brutal. The second season was more exciting for me.”
While he had nothing but praise for the second season, he explained that the first season had been quite different due to a behind-the-scenes overhaul.
“We were able to Frankenstein the first season to get to the second season of the show we really wanted to make,” D’Onofrio continued. “Part of the first season is a bunch of stuff we had to live with because we’d already shot it. We did reshoot a lot—I’d say 60%—but certain things we couldn’t. The second season was the first time we were able to do the show the way we wanted.”
So, if fans already enjoyed what Season 1 had to offer, it looks like Daredevil Season 2 is poised to exceed expectations once again.
What Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is About?
Charlie Cox returns to lead Daredevil Season 2 as Matt Murdock, alongside Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson.
Of course, Vincent D’Onofrio is also back as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, playing a major role that appears to be more violent than ever.
In fact, based on the new season’s trailer, the show looks even darker, with the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Matthew Lillard also joins the cast as the mysterious Mr. Charles.
Kingpin is firmly in power as the Mayor of New York City and has turned the public against masked heroes by creating an Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF). As Daredevil becomes a hunted man, Matt and his allies are forced to operate in the shadows.
But this won’t stop him from fighting evil. Matt begins gathering his allies and leading a resistance against Kingpin, his corrupt rule, and the oppressive system he has built.
Daredevil Season 2 is set to premiere on March 24, 2026, on Disney+.
