If Nickelodeon has Spongebob Squarepants, then Cartoon Network has Ben 10 as its longest running animated series. The show has seen multiple revamps since 2005, and now it looks like WB is ready to turn the property into a live-action series.
This comes from The GWW who says that WB is currently in early stages of development for a show based on the beloved cartoon from Man of Action. Ben 10 follows the adventures of 10-year-old Ben Tennyson, who gains access to the Omnitrix, a watch-like device that allows him to change into 10 different aliens—each with their own unique ability.
In his adventures, Ben is joined by his grandpa Max who turns out to be a member of an alien peacekeeping force called the Plumbers, and his cousin Gwen who gains an aptitude for magic.
There have actually been two attempts at a live-action Ben 10, but they were barely memorable for anyone who was a fan of the show. If WB wants to make this into a full on series, then they better bring their A-game with a bigger budget and some topnotch CGI.
We don't expect less from one of the longest running shows on the CN.
Personally, I think it would have worked better as a big budget movie complete with theatrical release. I mean, there have been movies made of less popular shows. I guess it's just best for WB to test the waters with a live-action show. I mean, even Teen Titans GO managed to get its own movie. Who knows when it would be time for Ben?
No release date has been set for the live-action Ben 10.
