Viewers who love chilling at home received a chill in their spines when it was announced that Netflix would be raising their price from $9.99 to $11.99. Many people will likely stay, despite the price increase due to the amount of content available on the platform. Those that want a bit more at a lesser price do have a solution though; Hulu.
That's right, the other popular streaming service is still around and it is now cheaper. Hulu announced that their monthly fee with ads will drop from $7.99 to $5.99, though those that want it without ads will have to pay $11.99, which is the same as Netflix.
Still, Hulu does have a ton of content that fans might want to check out. Marvel fans will be happy with The Runaways, which changes a lot from the comic books but does keep the series' themes. Plus, it might not be canceled after season 2, which can't be said for The Punisher or Iron Fist.
The change comes as streaming incumbents like Netflix, HBO, and Hulu are upping content spends and investing in original programming in an effort to claim increasingly contested market share. Streaming incumbents are feeling the pressure from new entrants and increasingly blowing through cash.
Hulu's price implementation starts on February 26.
