Wizards of the Coast
The hype for Magic: The Gathering's upcoming set War of the Spark continues as more Planeswalkers are being revealed. There are 36 Planeswalkers in the set (plus one buy-a-box promo) and now, Wizards of the Coast have revealed two more Planeswalkers: a new Karn and a new Jaya card. Check them out:
Karn, the Great Creator
This is not as overpowered as Karn Liberated or not as versatile as Karn, Scion of Urza but this is great for Artifact decks and can work well with the new Dovin card from War of the Spark even though the characters are fighting for opposite sides in the story.
Of course, we've already seen his land card from the new set: Karn's Bastion.
Proliferate is a terrific mechanic for a set with tons of Planeswalkers, so this card could see in play in some fun Planeswalker-heavy decks.
Jaya, Venerated Firemage
The new Jaya can hit two targets after it hits the battlefield unless you proliferate it so it can make more counters but having the power to deal extra damage with its static ability can drain your opponent's life fast. It's not as great as the new Chandra though.
Jaya's spell is a decent removal in Limited and it can deal 4 damage with the Jaya Planeswalker card's static ability so it will probably see some play.
What do you think about these new Planeswalkers from the upcoming set? Do you think they will see Standard play?
War of the Spark will be released on May 3, 2019. Prerelease events will take place on April 27-28.
