In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, McQuarrie was asked whether the Les Grossman movie is still happening.

He confirmed that the project continues to be in the works and Cruise is "very serious" in making it happen.

"The conversations we’ve had about Les Grossman are so f*cking funny. [We are] talking about it, we’re having very serious conversations about it, and how best to do it. It ultimately comes down to what that character is," the director said.

McQuarrie shared that the conversations on the Les Grossman movie were their escape from filming Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, and they would riff over the character.

"We don’t even think about the structure, we play with scenes. Just to be sitting at a breakfast table, not talking about the movie we’re making for a minute, is such decompression," he said.

"And just riffing with Tom playing Les Grossman at the table, it was one of the real joys of making this movie. It was all the stuff we were doing, planning the future while slugging out the present."

When is the Les Grossman Movie Coming Out?

So far, there is no release date set yet for the Les Grossman movie since the project is still in early development. No writer is attached yet.

Cruise is currently busy with other projects that are more priorities at the moment, but McQuarrie assured fans that it will happen at some point.

For now, we should wait for news and updates regarding the project in the coming years as he development is still ongoing and Cruise and McQuarrie were figuring out how they can make the project happen.

After all, Les Grossman might be the perfect vehicle for them to comment on what is happening in the Hollywood business today.
