The fourth film of the Norse god turned MCU hero, Thor: Love and Thunder, is set to release in July this year but new reports suggest that the cast and crew of the movie will be back to the studio as they are set to do reshoots in the coming weeks, possibly changing the narrative to make it more cohesive with other Marvel projects coming before and after it.
In a report from The Wrap, while discussing how John Carter turned out to be a disaster a decade ago, mentioned that additional photography has become a staple when it comes to films with a huge budget film schedule like that of Marvel movies and there, they made an example of Thor: Love and Thunder, coming out this summer, heading back to the studio for reshoots.
While no reason behind the reshoots has been shared, many speculate that it is because of the ever-changing narrative that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has. It could be remembered that the whole slate of Marvel has been pushed back a few months to adjust to the story that Spider-Man: No Way Home has brought into the franchise, resulting to reshoots of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
See, Marvel has that trend of interconnecting each of their projects that one way or another, a film or a series affects another project, may it be before or after its release. The change in one could have a domino effect on the other and it could make waves instead of ripples.

As for Thor: Love and Thunder, while other information on the movie remains in the shadows, what is sure is that Jane Foster will be donning the title of Mighty Thor and be the new wielder of the Mjolnir in the MCU. It wouldn’t be a problem for Thor, though, he already has the Stormbreaker, and having his former flame by his side, it’s a good thing, right?
The movie may need the reshoot for additional scenes, refining those already taken, or replacing shots that couldn’t make it to the cut. The process is so intricate, it’s just not possible to have it all one go. Either way, it is expected to be as awesome as Thor: Ragnarok and hopes are high with Waititi on the director’s chair. Everyone’s holding on to the thought that it wouldn’t have the same fate as that of Thor: The Dark World.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to release on theaters on July 8, 2022.
