Thief Drops in Through the Roof of A Gaming Store to Steal $100K Worth of MTG Cards & Board Games

A thief has broken into Zulu's Board Game Cafe on Main Street in Bothell and was able to bypass a security system by dropping in through the roof of the store, Komonews reports.

Zulu's owner Matt Zaremba told the news outlet that "They pried our skylight out and they came in through that hole."

The thief ransacked Zulu's Board Game Café that's already coming on its third year of operation.

"All the drawers were emptied. Stuff was all over the floor, our cash register was cut out, security system was cut out," he said.

According to Zaremba, the thief was after expensive Magic: The Gathering cards, and he lost about $100,000 worth of collectibles.

Komonews reporter Joel Moreno said that the store has insurance but "finds the whole thing so frustrating."

Other gaming stores are also on the lookout:

"We had one that had a guy come in that they think had our cards," Zaremba said. "Because they walked in with a couple thousand dollars and had no idea how the game worked."

The man left when he was being questioned, and now, Bothell police has his description.

Zaremba said that selling that amount of Magic: The Gathering goods should alarm dealers.

"You're very limited where you can sell something of that quantity and that dollar value, so if they try to do it anytime soon, it should hit people's radar," Zaremba explained.

This is not the first gaming store that was robbed in America this year. We previously reported about a New Hampshire store that was robbed just earlier this month.
