War of the Worlds, Flight Risk

War of the Worlds, Flight Risk

While the year 2025 gave us some of the best cinematic works from our favorite auteurs and sequel/franchise installments that deliver the hype, it also gave us some of the worst movies in recent memory that are poorly made and baffling to watch.

Here is our list of the worst movies of 2025, plus where you can stream them if you still dare to check them out somehow.

Back in Action

Back in Action follows former CIA spies Emily and Matt, who are pulled back into espionage after their secret identities are exposed.

The film was supposed to be Cameron Diaz's comeback after a decade of absence, but this turned out to be a generic and lame action-comedy that has predictable beats, wasted use of talented actors, and poorly-written dialogue. By the end, you will likely forget what happened.

Flight Risk

Flight Risk follows a pilot who transports an Air Marshal accompanying a fugitive to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar, and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.

It's unfathomable to think that Oscar-winning filmmaker Mel Gibson directed this film, considering how poorly made this is with bad CGI, a poor script, and a lack of thrills in what was supposed to be a promising action movie that takes place on an airplane.

Star Trek: Section 31

Star Trek: Section 31 follows Emperor Philippa Georgiou, who joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, and must face the sins of her past.

The film lacks the heart and spirit that we expect in a Star Trek story, and it ended up being a generic science-fiction action film that is a ripoff of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Michelle Yeoh deserves better material.

You're Cordially Invited

In You're Cordially Invited, when two weddings are double-booked at the same venue, the father of one bride and the sister of the other bride try to preserve the wedding weekend.

Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon lacked any chemistry to make this worth watching, despite being two major stars who have always been reliable. Just like any bad or mediocre streaming romantic-comedy film, this is an unmemorable experience.

Love Hurts

Love Hurts follows a realtor who is pulled back into the life he left behind after his former partner-in-crime resurfaces with an ominous message. With his crime-lord brother also on his trail, he must confront his past and the history he never fully buried.

The film should have been Ke Huy Quan's starring vehicle following his comeback and Oscar win, but instead, it's a poorly made action film that has a terrible script and baffling creative choices that make you question how David Leitch and his team got involved with this project.

The Electric State

The Electric State follows an orphaned teen who hits the road with a mysterious robot to find her long-lost brother, teaming up with a smuggler and his wisecracking sidekick.

Despite being the most expensive Netflix original film in history, it lacked the magic and charm that made this a memorable viewing experience for subscribers at home. No wonder the Russo Brothers decided to return to the MCU after making this.

Opus

Opus follows a writer who travels to the compound of a pop icon who disappeared years ago. Surrounded by his cult of sycophants, as well as a group of fellow journalists, she soon discovers his twisted plans for the gathering.

While the premise sounded promising at first, the film ended up being a lackluster with baffling story direction, poorly executed twists, and other questionable creative choices. Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich were not enough to save this.

The Alto Knights follows two of New York City's most notorious crime bosses as they vie for control of the city's streets. Once best friends, petty jealousies and a series of betrayals set them on a deadly collision course.

Despite the impressive make-up work on Robert De Niro's dual characters, the film was never interesting throughout its runtime, and it ended up being a cliché of mob movies from the past.

Hurry Up Tomorrow

Hurry Up Tomorrow follows an insomniac musician who encounters a mysterious stranger, leading to a journey that challenges everything he knows about himself.

The film was set out to be a vehicle for The Weeknd, but it ended up being a pretentious psychological thriller that failed to live up to its concept and baffling story choices that make you question the point of everything that happened.

Bride Hard

In Bride Hard, when a mercenary group takes a lavish wedding hostage, they have no idea what they are in for as the maid of honor is actually a secret agent ready to rain hellfire upon anyone who would ruin her best friend's wedding.

It's baffling that the film was directed by the same guy who did Con Air because of its poorly crafted action sequences, bad VFX, and a story that is pretty much a ripoff of Die Hard.

War of the Worlds

In War of the Worlds, a colossal invasion of Earth is coming in this off-kilter take on the legendary novel of the same name, filled with present-day themes of technology, government surveillance, and privacy.

The Family Plan 2

In The Family Plan 2, now that Dan’s assassin days are behind him, all he wants for Christmas is quality time with his kids. But when he learns his daughter has her own plans, he books a family trip to London—putting them all in the crosshairs of an unexpected enemy.

It's still questionable to this day why they decided to do a sequel to the film, despite the first installment not being received well by audiences and critics. It's pretty much a rehash of the first film with similar story beats and character banters that are clichés of what we've seen before.
