It’s going to be a while before Liam Hemsworth graces the screens as the new Geralt of Rivia, but Netflix is ready to bring back the character through another medium with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.

The movie is said to take place between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season, and it also features a scene that was originally in the live-action series but ended up being cut.

From Live-Action to Animation

In a recent talk with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar+), writer Mike Ostrowski confirms that there is a scene in the movie between Geralt and Yennefer that was deleted from the live-action series, but made its way to the animated movie.

While Ostrowski doesn’t reveal anything specific about the scene, he does say that Geralt and Yen are in “a period of not being together, or a period of trouble, but still on each other's minds." Co-writer Rae Benjamin also says there’s a ‘fun little scene’ between the two characters.

Ostrowski continues, "Geralt cannot let Yennefer go, even though he's trying his best… She haunts him. Even if he wanted to be rid of her, he can't."

Seeing that this is Netflix’s The Witcher, it’s very likely that this could be a sexual scene between Geralt and Yen. Their romance has always been one of the main threads in The Witcher, and while they are a personality match, it does seem like sex is the series' favorite way of visually showing their compatibility.

A Little Sacrifice

Though the first season of the series may stand by itself, the writers of Sirens of the Deep were able to find some room in the story to adapt another arc from Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. Based on a story called A Little Sacrifice, Sirens of the Deep will follow Geralt of Rivia as he is put in the middle of a conflict between a small village and merpeople.

Though this Geralt is still Cavill’s version of the character, the voice will be provided by the game’s Geralt Doug Cockle. When it comes to the other characters though, they’re going to be voiced by their live-action counterparts like Joey Batey reprising Jaskier and Anya Chalotra providing the voice of Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Update on The Witcher 4

The Witcher is admittedly going through a big transition period with Cavill gone, but it looks like Netflix is ready to keep milking the franchise for stories. It may not be Game of Thrones, but the lore is rich and it’s primed for all kinds of creators to add their spin on characters—whether it be through animation or live-action.

Though the live-action series may have only two seasons left, there's still plenty of room for Netflix to make all kinds of prequels and sequels; maybe they can even make a Ciri-centered series based on the upcoming Witcher trilogy from CD Projekt Red.

Hopefully, Sirens of the Deep will keep fans satiated till the fourth season of the show premieres.

Watch out for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep when it comes to Netflix on Feb. 11. The fourth season of The Witcher starring Liam Hemsworth is expected to premiere sometime later this year.
