The Witcher Showrunner Teases Netflix Show's Mature Content

The highly anticipated The Witcher series is currently in production and Lauren S. Hissrich is learning something new every day. The showrunner of the upcoming Netflix series has just confirmed that the show's content is definitely meant for mature audiences.

Hissrich has been posting The Witcher production updates on her official Twitter account, teasing on what fans can look forward to later this year. Her latest tweet reveals that she watched some footage from the series with her son and it didn't go too well. Check out her post below.

"Just watched a cut of #Witcher with Ben, and the verdict is in: this show is not for 5-year-olds. Like, really not," Hissrich wrote, adding the hashtag #TalesOfAWorkingMom.

This shouldn't be a surprise for fans of the Andrzej Sapkowski books or the CD Projekt Red video games. After all, Geralt of Rivia is a monster slayer who doesn't hold back when it comes to killing. Considering that the series will air on Netflix, there will be plenty of blood and gore to go around.

The synopsis for The Witcher reads as follows:

"Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer.

The Witcher has not yet been given an official release date. However, the show is expected to premiere on Netflix by late 2019.
