People are already looking forward to The Witcher Season 3 considering it will be the final season featuring Henry Cavill. Interestingly, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich claims that Geralt of Rivia will already be dealing with some major changes in the upcoming season of the Netflix series.
The Witcher Season 3: Lauren Schmidt Hissrich Teases Major Changes For Geralt of Rivia
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently spoke to SFX magazine about The Witcher Season 3 and the showrunner spoke about what's next for the Butcher of Blaviken (via GamesRadar).
"From the very beginning, Geralt has talked a lot about being neutral," Hissrich said. "He is very clear that he doesn’t want to get into politics. He exists for one reason – to kill monsters."
"This season, with all the parties that are after Ciri, his neutrality really comes into question," she continued. "When Geralt loses the two people he loves so deeply, it causes him to give up on his neutrality because he will do anything to get them back."
"From this point on, he actually has an agenda," Hissrich added. "He is not reacting to the world. He is proactively seeking to change something."
It's an interesting tease considering that Geralt has always stayed away from the politics of the Continent. However, things will indeed begin changing soon.
The changes in Geralt will not just be about his actions. It has already been confirmed that The Witcher Season 3 will be the final one for Henry Cavill, who announced his departure in October last year.
With Cavill's exit, Liam Hemsworth is set to take over as the White Wolf in The Witcher Season 4. Moreover, the Hunger Games actor is already confirmed to reprise the role in the fifth season.
The Witcher Season 3, Volume 1 premieres on Netflix on June 29, 2023. The second set of episodes will be released on July 27, 2023.
