For the past several years, we have seen a lot of celebrities with huge social media following become influencers with brand endorsement deals.

Whether they are effective ambassadors or not is debatable. Still, there is no denying that they have become reliable voices for brands considering the massive number of people that could see their content and their ability to persuade consumers.

Celebrities Are Embracing Their Influencer Side

Whether they came from entertainment or sports, celebrities are now reliable influencers with brands partnering with them to spread the word about their products.

A simple post of a celebrity holding the product can reach millions of people worldwide and make them aware of the brand. There is also potential for them to be viral which is the kind of result that they usually aspire.

For example, it was reported that rapper Nicki Minaj is one of the highest-paid stars on Instagram as she makes an estimated $1,031,000 per post featuring an endorsement or partnership with a brand.

Meanwhile, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly commands $2,397,000 per brand post on his Instagram account with a whopping 648 million followers.

As you can see with the aforementioned examples, there is a huge value for celebrities to do endorsements on social media as evidenced by the massive fee that they get paid.

Aside from doing partnerships, celebrities who have their own businesses also use their social media accounts to endorse their products. In this way, there is instant awareness among the consumers without going through a different channel.

Are Celebrity Influencers Really Effective?

For the most part, celebrity influencers are effective since they are already reliable stars and you can expect them to have millions of reach worldwide.

However, as Forbes wrote, there is a risk since "celebrities are also increasingly subjecting themselves to cancel culture and risk making mistakes that damage their reputations—much like influencers."

Brands have a lot of considerations to make when choosing a celebrity influencer as they have to think about which one "drive more value for their money, because top-tier celebrities still command greater fees than influencers."

There might be several factors to consider, but in the end, we have seen countless examples that they are effective social media ambassadors and it's a form of brand endorsement that will be embraced for years to come.
