The Punisher season 2 release date announcement and teaser might seem like good news, but it seems like Marvel fans can't help but feel wary for the series' future considering all the cancellations that Netflix has made in the past few months.
Back in October, Netflix decided to cancel Iron Fist without give any reason why the series had been axed. A week later, Luke Cage followed Danny Rand's (Finn Jones) series to the chopping board. Even more heartbreaking was the cancellation of Daredevil, one of the most critically-acclaimed Marvel TV series on Netflix that had just enjoyed a phenomenal third season on the streaming platform.
Now, with Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil gone, The Punisher is left as one of the two series left alive on Netflix. Sure, the streaming company might be gearing up to release the second season of the series, but who knows what might happen after. The Punisher might not live to see a third batch of episodes at all.
Taking to Twitter, some fans expressed their anxiety over the next season of The Punisher. Check out some of the tweets down here:
While this reaction might seem unfair to The Punisher's cast and crew, fans have every right to be concerned about the future of the series. Netflix also released a new season of Daredevil before deciding to ax the show a week after the debut of its new episodes.
Of course, that may not happen with The Punisher. After all, the series does have a particularly strong following.
The Punisher season 2 is set to premiere January 18, 2019.
