The Punisher Thanks Fans For Their Support After The Cancellation

Marvel fans were met with heartbreaking news earlier this week when Netflix announced that it had decided to cancel both The Punisher and Jessica Jones, the only two remaining Marvel TV series after the streaming giant axed Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist last year. Sure, many expected both shows to get pulled from Netflix, but some continued to hope that The Punisher would last for at least one more season before it would leave the streaming site.

Posting on its official Facebook page, The Punisher shared a post right after the cancellation announcement, thank fans for their support throughout the years that the show's been on Netflix. In the post, we get to see a photo of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal). Next to him is a text telling fans that "it's been an honor."

Honestly, though, it's such a shame that The Punisher never got to its third batch of episodes.

The series' cast members have been equally disappointed over the news. Detective Sergeant Brett Mahony actor Royce Johnson recently spoke in an interview with ComicBook.com, opening about the series cancellation and how they learned about the news.

"I found out this morning, brother, the same way we found out about the other shows," Mahoney said during the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, "I tell people that sometimes the actors are the last ones to know, and that's what it is, we are. We find out through social media as well, you know? Or we check our emails, and we get a letter."

Despite it all, the cast and crew are thankful to have stayed for so long and proud of the work that they've done on The Punisher.

Hopefully, the series finds a new home in another streaming site. Maybe Hulu. Maybe Disney+. We'll have to wait and see.

The Punisher season 2 is available for streaming on Netflix.
