Max has unveiled the second trailer for the upcoming series The Penguin which gave fans another look at the next chapter in The Batman saga.

Fans have been anticipating the release of the spinoff series as it will continue Oswald Cobblepot's adventure in Gotham City following the events of the first film and expand the Matt Reeves universe.

A few months ago, we got our first full glimpse at the upcoming series and, now, we have another new look that gives us the bigger picture of Oswald's quest to take over the Gotham City criminal underworld.

The Penguin Releases Second Trailer

The second teaser trailer of The Penguin highlighted Oswald's dealing with the aftermath of the climatic fight between Batman and Riddler in the first film which saw Gotham City submerged in a massive flood.

Cristin Milioti's character Sofia Falcone was also one of the main focuses of the trailer as they establish her attempt to take over her late father's business and potentially work together with Oswald.

The footage that we've seen looks promising as it looks like they are going all the way with the dark and gritty tone that they are exploring and we'll get an opportunity to learn more about Colin Farrell's fan-favorite villain.

In an interview earlier this year, Farrell teased that the spinoff series will be "incredibly violent" and have a darker tone as we've anticipated.

"It’s dark; that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think— it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it," he said.

"It’s incredibly violent. It’s one man’s rise to what he’s always dreamed of inhabiting, which is a certain power or social status."

The actor added, "The death of Carmine Falcone at the end of [The Batman] leaves this vacuum in Gotham to be filled, and so there are various people that are grabbing for that power. This is Oswald’s journey trying to rise to the top through extraordinary obstacles."

The Penguin is slated to release on Max this September.
