X-Men director Jake Schreier recently confirmed that he has started working on the highly anticipated MCU reboot.

Fans have been anticipating the official debut of the mutants in the MCU. While some of the actors from the Fox era have been brought back to reprise their roles, Marvel Studios is still set to introduce its version of the beloved mutants after the end of the Multiverse Saga. Now, we have a new update that fans have been waiting for.

In a recent interview with Empire, Schreier revealed that he had already started working on the MCU reboot of X-Men.

"I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting," he said.

Schreier also discussed how directing Thunderbolts* helped him prepare for bringing mutants to the MCU in his project, and the emphasis on focusing on characters.

"The biggest learning curve for me was the proportion of the action to the more emotional, character-driven scenes, and how, even though it’s more shooting days than I’ve ever had, they get eaten up quite quickly by the action stuff," he said.

"By the time we got to the end of it, it felt like, ‘Oh, now I feel like we get how to do this a little bit better.’"

The director also added, "Look, who gets to do that? [On Thunderbolts*], we’re in the middle of nowhere in Utah, in a gorgeous location, owning a road, and filming in 100-degree heat, or finding yourself on the second-tallest building in the world. These are very special experiences."

What to Expect in the X-Men MCU Reboot

So far, the plot details regarding the X-Men MCU reboot are still being kept under wraps, and it is expected to take place some time after Avengers: Secret Wars.

Michael Lesslie is working on the screenplay. No casting has been made yet for the mutant characters, despite the many rumors and alleged scoops that have surfaced around the internet.

Last month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave a tease on what fans should expect from their reboot of the X-Men property.

"We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts*. And if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic," he said.

"He’s younger than me for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think was important for Thunderbolts*, much more important for X-Men. Because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie."
