The penultimate episode of The Last of Us is finally here and it once again proved that the world has turned into a dangerous place. However, there are no Clickers to fight in Episode 8. Instead, Joel and Ellie had to face off against something that is truly deadlier than the Infected.
In The Last of Us Episode 8, Joel and Ellie are still stuck in a house in the middle of a difficult winter and Ellie is getting concerned over Joel's wound which has become infected. When she sets out to hunt a deer, she encounters a preacher named David and his right-hand man James.
The wary Ellie agrees to trade the deer for some medicine and while waiting for James to return with the penicillin, David reveals that he leads a group that just lost a member. That man was the same one that Joel had killed after being stabbed with a broken baseball bat.
Although they allow her to leave, David later takes his men to hunt Joel and Ellie down. She manages to spot them and tries to lead them away from Joel's location but is ultimately captured. In the meantime, David orders his other men to search for Joel and kill him.
Some of the men find the house Joel has been hiding in but are quickly overpowered by Joel who then tortures them for Ellie's location. At David's camp, he initially tries to convince her to join them but Ellie soon realizes that he has been killing people and feeding them to his group members.
When David and James try to kill Ellie, she fights back and manages to kill James. David hunts her and although he tackles her, Ellie grabs a knife and brutally kills him.
There are no Clickers in The Last of Us Episode 8 but that doesn't make it any less terrifying. Once again, the HBO show proved that humans are the real monsters in the series.
The Last of Us Episode 8 is now streaming on HBO Max.
