Song Hye Kyo’s new K-drama on Netflix, The Glory, finally arrived.

Writer Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho worked together to create the first season of The Glory. The drama explores the life of a former school violence victim who starts seeking revenge on her bullies. She studies to become a homeroom teacher until she starts her work as a homeroom adviser to one of the school bullies’ child.

Song Hye Kyo and Lee Do Hyun lead the drama. Other cast members include Lim Ji Yeon, Shin Ye Eun, Yeom Hye Ran, Park Sung Hoon, Song Byeong Geun, Jung Sung Il, Cha Joo Young, Kim Hi-eora, Bae Kang Hee, Kim Gun Woo, and Seo Woo Hyuk.

Here’s what happened in The Glory episode 1.

The Glory Episode 1 Recap

Moon Dong Eun (played by Song Hye Kyo) drives to Eden apartments during the summer of 2022 and meets the landlord (Son Sook). But during the encounter, she suddenly has flashbacks of what happened to her in the past and remembers why she hates summer. She eventually visits Park Yeon Jin and threatens to kill her.

During high school, the younger Moon Dong Eun (played by Jung Ji Soo) as she reports the “prank” Park Yeon Jin and her classmates did on her.

It turns out that she has been a victim of her bullying. Park Yeon Jin and her friends continue to bully her and hurt her little by little. Unfortunately, nobody has ever offered her help.

The school nurse (Jeon Soo A) sees her injuries and asks her to tell her who did it to her. But Park Yeon Jin continues to use her power to silence everyone. Even at her home, the bullies still follow her, and she unceasingly suffers from violence.

Because of the traumatic experiences, she tries to end her life but ends up breaking down instead.

She submits a dropout letter and says she wants to quit because of school violence, naming Park Yeon Jin, Lee Sara, Jeon Jaejun, Choi Ye Jeong, and Son Myeong O as the perpetrators. But even the school teacher physically assaults her.

Her mother sides with Park Yeon Jin’s mother and signs the settlement document to receive the money. On the other hand, she starts working different jobs to survive.

The present Moon Dong Eun meets Park Yeon Jin’s daughter, Han Ye Sol, whom she tells her story to.

The young Moon Dong Eun reappears in front of Park Yeon Jin after seeing her online post about wanting to become a mother and wife. She then gives her warning, saying she hopes she meets them again. To do that, she studies again while working at a textile company until she gets into college.

After all those years, she becomes the homeroom teacher of Han Ye Sol, and she starts her cruel revenge plot. On the other hand, Park Yeon Jin becomes a reporter.
