Now that all four episodes of Marvel Zombies are out on Disney+, fans are looking forward to seeing what they should anticipate next in the Marvel Animation slate.

So far, the only animated projects that are set to release in the future are the respective second seasons of X-Men '97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Speaking recently with DiscussingFilm, Marvel Animation executive Brad Winderbaum confirmed that the aforementioned two shows are now set to release the subsequent new seasons annually.

"What’s exciting about the next few years is that we are going to get subsequent seasons of X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on an annual cadence," he shared. "So, every year, there will be a new season, and we can map out a longer arc to those stories."

This is exciting news for fans, as it indicates that there are Marvel Animation projects to look forward to in the coming years. Especially in the case of X-Men '97, the current extended delay will now be avoided in the future, and they have plans to maintain a consistent annual release schedule, much like a TV show should.

Is Marvel Zombies Getting a Second Season?

One of the questions that fans have is whether there will be a second season of Marvel Zombies, following its four-episode run this week.

Winderbaum explained that the project was conceived as a standalone series that could lead to more stories in the future, given the epic scope that they were accomplishing.

"A single standalone epic adventure that [showrunner] Bryan [Andrews] and I want to make more of. I mean, this lore is like very rich, and there are stories that we talk about all the time. We know where they are, and they just didn’t align with this particular story," he said.

The Marvel Animation executive also promised that the second season would only happen if a large number of fans supported it and drew enough viewers.

"If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. We're ready," he teased.
