The First Season of Netflix's The Witcher has Wrapped Production

Henry Cavill may not be reprising Superman anytime soon, but he is starring in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher. News just in, the series has already wrapped production, meaning we could be getting our first trailer for the show before the year ends.

Check out the announcement from showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich:

While the most prevalent Witcher iteration now is the game from CD Projekt Red, the original source material is actually a series of novels from Andrzej Sapkowski. By the looks of it, the Netflix series will be drawing more from the books, but then again, I wouldn't put it past them to lift some elements from the game. After all, it's the game's version of Geralt that everyone is so familiar with right now.

With Game of Thrones officially wrapping up, I think Netflix may have found their own GOT in the form of The Witcher. Then again, it could be too early to say. Hopefully we can get our first look come July, during the San Diego Comic-Con.

"Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

No release date has been set for The Witcher, but the show is expected to debut sometime in 2019.
