The Fifth Element is Just Horny Sci-Fi in New Honest Trailer

It’s that time of the year again and Screen Junkies is going through Honest Trailers of summer blockbusters. The first on their list for 2020 is Luc Besson’s cult classic The Fifth Element.

Are you ready for some big-budget sci-fi with huge explosions, crazy shootouts, and killer alines? One 90s film had the courage to give you all that plus be really horny—really super horny. Welcome to the future of America, a land full of smoking, toplessness, and rude waiters—to the point where you just know this movie was made by a bunch of French dudes.

Admittedly, the trailer doesn’t hold back when it comes to the weirdness of The Fifth Element. Since I didn’t grow up with the film, I thought that it was incredibly cheesy when I saw it, but I can imagine a lot of people loving it as youngsters and remembering it fondly when they grow up—kind of like the Star Wars prequels.

I also didn’t know that Chris Tucker’s role was initially intended for Prince, and it makes a whole lot of sense how weird and artsy the character was when you see him in the movie. Personally I prefer Tucker when he can spout his rapid-fire comedy like he does in Rush Hour or whenever he does stand-up.

Love it or hate it, The Fifth Element has already made its mark on pop-culture, and I’m sure no other property has been able to duplicate its popularity. Does anyone even remember Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets?
