There have been reports that New York's moody heroes might not be working together again anytime soon. However, Jeph Loeb has just confirmed that The Defenders Season 2 could still happen sometime in the future.

The Marvel TV Head recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and quickly clarified previous reports that the Netflix series has been canceled. Loeb stated that although it sounded final, there could still be a second season for The Defenders.

Yes, you read that right. Loeb continued by suggesting that a different set of Defenders will star in the second season.

First of all, I seriously doubt if Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand would even consider getting special 'D' belts. Matt Murdock might think about it, but from the way he's acting in the Daredevil Season 3 trailer, it's still unlikely to happen.

Nevertheless, Loeb's statement could mean that the other characters in the Marvel TV Universe could eventually join together and become the Defenders. However, we probably shouldn't hold our breaths while waiting for The Defenders Season 2.

The next Marvel show that will air on Netflix is Daredevil Season 3, which premieres on October 19.
