Some fans are wondering whether there are plans to continue the franchise in some capacity. As it turns out, it looks like it will be jumping to the small screen.
Is HBO Max's The Conjuring TV Series Spinoff in the Works?
Variety has confirmed that The Conjuring TV series spinoff is officially moving forward on HBO Max.
Nancy Won, who worked as a writer on Supernatural, is tapped to serve as the showrunner of the project. Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires, who were involved in WandaVision, have also been hired to serve as writers.
It is unknown yet whether the familiar characters from the film will be included in the series, or it will focus on a new set of characters or a story that will be tackled in The Conjuring universe.
The news comes as Last Rites became the number-one film at the box office worldwide last weekend, and there have been questions about whether Warner Bros. will keep expanding the franchise, even without the presence of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
HBO Max is already set to release the It TV series spinoff, It: Welcome to Derry, this October, marking another horror franchise that is being spun off into the small screen.
Are There Plans for More The Conjuring Movies?
