Sister Sage (or just ‘Sage’) is one of the newly introduced members of The Seven in the fourth season of The Boys, and she’s proven herself to be quite the asset to Homelander compared to his teammates like Deep.

Though Sage has always acted kind of jaded since her first appearance, a recent reveal on the show explains why she’s become so indifferent to humans and is eager to see the fall of the world order.

What Happened to Sister Sage’s Grandma in The Boys?

Besides being the most intelligent person on the planet, very little is known about Sage’s personal life in the world of The Boys. It’s revealed that she occasionally lobotomises herself to cope with her issues, but the recent episode Dirty Business kind of explains her entire character and why she’s jaded about the world.

In a conversation with Victoria Neuman, Sage reveals that her grandmother was diagnosed with stage 3 Leukemia when she was a child. With Sage being as smart as she was, she was able to create an actual cure for what was ailing her grandmother, but when she presented this to the doctors, she was laughed off. Tragically, her grandmother died in pain.

When it comes to the point of the story, Sage explains that, to her, there is no helping humanity anymore since they are ‘animals’. The only way that women like her and Victoria can get ahead is if they manipulate and control all the powerful people around them.

What could be Sage’s Endgame?

It’s unclear what Sage and Homelander’s endgame is in the show, but the series has revealed bits and pieces of their plan. So far, Sage is trying to brew chaos with the camps pro-Homelander and pro-Starlight. Even the hiring of Firecracker was done to spread misinformation and encourage violence.

The latest part of the plan that we learn about is that they are teaming up with Tek Knight to make intermittent camps out of his prisons for anyone who would stand in their way—just like Joe Kessler (or rather Butcher) predicted.

With Neuman taking over for HL and Sage during their billionaire pitch meeting, it’s possible that there could be a hiccup when it comes to Sage’s ultimate plan; and as it seems, Neuman could still be on the side of living peacefully with the humans. Sage, on the other hands, seems to low-key agree with Homelander about how the humans should be treated, and creating a new world order could be the only way that Sage could actually enact some real change in the world.

Until the next episode drops, fans can only guess, but The Boys Season 4 is already gearing up to a close, and from that point, fans will just have one final season to completely wrap it all up.
