Yes, Chef! Fans’ questions are now answered as FX has finally renewed The Bear for a fifth season, less than a week after the 10-episode fourth season dropped on June 25.

Though Season 4 of the critically acclaimed series received mixed reviews, earning its lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of 84% compared to the previous seasons’ 100%, 99%, and 89%, the network claimed it achieved an impressive viewership in its first week.

So, after that major cliffhanger in the Season 4 finale, here’s everything we know so far about The Bear Season 5.

While Season 4’s finale was titled “Goodbye,” making it feel like chefs’ final dish, The Bear will surely return for another set of episodes of chaos and nuance in the kitchen and beyond.

The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season — as seen through incredibly high viewership — has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons,” FX chairman John Landgraf said. “Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast, and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.”

So, despite its mixed reviews, this only proves that the psychological comedy-drama TV series remains to be a hit on FX.

With that being said, the fourth season’s loose ends will soon be addressed.

It’s hard to imagine The Bear without its main staff, so fans can expect Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Matty Matheson, and Abby Elliott to return and continue their work in the kitchen.

Though the Season 4 finale raises questions about Allen’s return—after his character, Carmy, decides to resign from the culinary world—and the rising stardom of the main cast has made them in demand for other high-profile projects, two sources told Variety that the principal cast is contractually committed to continue if FX and series creator Christopher Storer move forward with the show.

Jon Bernthal may also appear in flashbacks, while Jamie Lee Curtis, Oliver Platt, and Gillian Jacobs are expected to reprise their roles.

Warning: Major spoilers ahead.

Viewers who saw the Season 4 finale know that Carmy is considering leaving the culinary world, leaving the titular restaurant to Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Natalie (Abby Elliott).

As expected, Sydney refused, leading to an altercation between the two—one that Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) overheard.

Now that Richie knows Carmy’s plans, Sydney gave Carmy one condition before he leaves: she wants Richie to lead The Bear alongside her and Natalie.

So, if Carmy truly walks away, The Bear Season 5 may explore new directions in his absence.

Fans may see how the restaurant functions without its head chef and whether it can survive despite ongoing budget issues.

Meanwhile, Carmy may try to rediscover his identity outside the kitchen—and possibly rekindle his romance with Claire (Gordon).

So far, FX has yet to reveal when The Bear Season 5 will be released, but it’s expected to hit the small screen in 2026.

The series may continue its pattern of releasing new seasons annually since its debut in 2022. While Seasons 3 and 4 were filmed back-to-back, production for Season 5 might begin soon.

That means fans will likely have to wait another year to dive back into The Bear’s intense kitchen drama.
