Despite numerous delays Matt Reeves' The Batman Part 2 faced since 2022, the sequel finally gets an exciting filming update from its co-writer Mattson Tomlin on what we can expect from the Dark Knight hero's return.
Robert Pattinson Will Be Suiting Up Soon in the Dark Knight's Sequel
Two years after the confirmation that The Batman Part II will return with Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight hero and Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, the sequel finally got its green light on when exactly filming begins.
Following the Hollywood strikes in 2023, The Batman sequel faced countless delays along with the rest of the previously slated films. Part II had then been pushed back from its original release date, October 2025, to 2026.
Meanwhile, here's what The Batman Part II co-writer Mattson Tomlin updated fans on the sequel's progress.
"It's shooting next year," Tomlin confirmed, adding that Part II is a direct sequel to the first flick, "We're gearing up and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher."
"But also, [The Batman director Matt] Reeves is like no other," Tomlin shared his process in working closely with him for five years, explaining that the helmer is a "true artist who is operating in a world where sometimes art doesn't get to flourish, "And he's trying to make something that matters."
Overall, Tomlin is "psyched for the movie" and feels "pretty tremendous" for just being "on the ride and being part of that process."
The Oscar-nominated film did wonders in 2022, so there's no doubt that a sequel would only do Reeves' reboot of the franchise more justice. In this case, Part II will continue where the first part left fans off.
While the entire storyline has yet to be disclosed, Andy Serkis, who plays Bruce Wayne's most trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth, recently teased that "Matt [Reeves] is working really hard on the script."
Serkis added, "I can only assume it's going to be another brilliant script," adding that the first film was "pretty amazing" and he is "looking forward to playing Alfred once more."
