The Batman director Matt Reeves has set the record straight on the Court of Owls' rumored appearance in the sequel.

The follow-up to the hit 2022 film is currently in development with Reeves returning to direct and co-write the script. The spinoff series The Penguin bridges the gap between the two movies.

Fans have been speculating which main villain will the Caped Crusader face in the sequel with hopes that the Court of Owls organization would be the next antagonist that Reeves' universe will introduce.

In a recent interview, Reeves addressed the rumors surrounding the Court of Owls' alleged appearance in The Batman - Part II.

He gave a cryptic response as he warned fans to not believe the rumors as they are still working on the script and are not ready to announce the villain.

"We can't comment on the movie because we are doing the movie and then you'd know what movie we're doing and we're not going to say that yet," the filmmaker said.

Considering that Reeves' take on The Batman universe is more grounded, it would not be surprising if the Court of Owls will become the main villain and it presents an interesting dynamic since the Caped Crusader would be facing an entire organization instead of just one person.

Reeves also did not dispute the possibility of the Court of Owls' appearance in the sequel so fans could still hope that it will happen and it's a matter of time before we will hear some confirmation.

For now, fans should look forward to any reports and announcements regarding the sequel as Reeves is planning to begin filming by next year. Who knows, perhaps the Court of Owls will indeed be confirmed to be the main villain.

The Batman - Part II is slated for release in theaters on October 2, 2026.
