Aquaman ended up being a fine superhero movie and a good popcorn muncher for anyone that wants to have a good time. Shazam might be of similar quality, while some expectations are being raised for Wonder Woman: 1984 since that is the sequel to a good DCEU film. DC's future after the Wonder Woman sequel isn't too well known but if these reports are true, it looks like The Batman could finally be next.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the script from Matt Reeves has been all but officially approved and it could start filming this November. That is great news for Reeves and those that are excited for the film, which a lot of people are. Say what you will about the DCEU but Reeves' War of the Planet of the Apes was pretty great.
Now it's time for every comic book fans favorite pastime; will Ben Affleck still be Batman? There were numerous reports that claimed Affleck was either done or is committed to the role so it is really hard to say. Fans have had a mixed reaction to the actor's portrayal of the character but he could be motivated if the script is good.
Replacements for Affleck haven't been named, though actors like Jon Hamm have shown some interest in the role. I mean, who wouldn't want to be Batman? Should Affleck leave, it will be fun to see who DC and Reeves get to replace the actor/director.
The Batman does not have a release date as of this writing. A 2020 or 2021 release wouldn't be an unrealistic expectation.
