The upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte will feature easter eggs and references to the other eras of the franchise according to the showrunner.

A lot of fans have been anticipating the release of The Acolyte since it is the first Star Wars series that is set in the High Republic era and will shed light more on the Sith characters.

As shown by the trailer, despite being in a different era, the series will still have the familiar Star Wars iconography and elements and, as it turns out, it will also have references to the other parts of the franchise that we've seen before.

In a recent interview, The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland teased that the upcoming series has easter eggs and nods to the other eras of the Star Wars franchise.

"It’s a show packed with everything I wanted to explore: I wanted EU [Expanded Universe] stuff in there, references to the original trilogy, The Phantom Menace, the Disney sequels… it’s absolutely packed. Because you never know, you may not get the chance again," she said.

Headland also revealed that they channeled George Lucas' style when they filmed the series.

"[Cinematographer] Chris [Teague] and I talked a lot about honoring George Lucas’ camera moves. I would say the original trilogy became our touchpoint for how to craft the world, while the Episode I-ness of the show is a bit more thematic," she added.

It is clear from her comments that Headland has a strong affinity for the franchise as she wanted to make sure that the series still has the familiar Star Wars vibes that are familiar to the audience.

Fans will now also have to watch out for the easter eggs once they see the series and it is interesting to see what kind of nods they have in store that would remind us of the other eras.

The Acolyte is set to premiere with two episodes on Disney+ this June 4.
