Disney might have a lousy track record when it comes to their own live-action movies (hey there A Wrinkle in Time), but the studio has been blessed ever since the higher-ups decided to purchase both Marvel and Star Wars. It's clear that both of these properties are some of the most popular sources of media right now, mostly due to their movies.
Fans often debate on whether the company prioritizes Marvel or Star Wars since they are big money makers for them. Director Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok and an episode of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian, recently revealed in an interview that Disney does favor one property over the other; and Star Wars is the favorite apparently.
In an interview with Observer, the acclaimed director revealed that Disney is much more protective and secretive over George Lucas' baby. When asked which of the properties Marvel is stricter over, he said: "Star Wars, easily." Thankfully, he was still allowed to give The Mandalorian a taste of his fun directing skills, showing that Marvel values the guy's creative output. Somewhat.
Star Wars: Episode IX comes out on December 20. Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26. Captain Marvel is now showing in theaters.
