New Superman set photos recently made their rounds online, giving a good look at four DC Universe heroes: Superman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific. However, it quickly sparked a debate among fans after revealing the costume of Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner.

The set photos, shared by @clevelanddotcom on X, give a first look at Green Lantern and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl.

Hawkgirl is flying alongside Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific, while Green Lantern and David Corenswet’s Superman stay on the ground.

Sure, the images tease a possible plotline for the movie, with the four heroes walking amid the cheering and applauding crowd, but they also pose questions about Green Lantern’s suit.

Instead of his iconic green costume, Fillion wears a white jacket and pants with black and green details. As expected, this quickly sparks reactions among fans, with many complaining that the costume style is inaccurate.

Fillion will play the Guy Gardner version of Green Lantern in Superman, which differs from Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan in the 2011 Green Lantern.

This time, he will wear a physical costume as his DCU hero and have Gardner’s signature red hair and a bowl cut.

Unlike other iterations of Green Lantern, Guy wears a jacket as part of his superhero suit in the comics.

Fillion is also seen wearing a jacket, though it’s not entirely comic-book accurate; it looks much whiter.

Sure, Green Lantern’s costume has white elements, like his gloves. However, in the comics, Guy’s suit is a green jacket with black pants and sleeves.

Another striking detail that differentiates Fillion’s Green Lantern suit in the movie from his character’s comic book look is that his suit has the same symbol as Mister Terrific.

That said, there are theories that the film will feature the Justice League International, and their costumes may be from LordTech.

Maxwell Lord, who happens to be the JLI’s manager and will be part of the film being played by Sean Gunn, owns the company.

Fillion's controversial Green Lantern costume may be part of the team’s initial design in Superman and may still change.

Though there’s a big difference between Fillion’s Green Lantern costume and the other suits of the character seen in DCEU and other projects, this may still be subject to change.

It’s good to note that Reynolds’ Green Lantern costume was added entirely to his film’s post-production.

However, although other costume-accurate details may be added in post-production, this may not be Fillion's official Green Lantern suit.

If he’s a part of JLI in Superman, he will likely only temporarily wear this white costume.

Green Lantern is part of the Green Lantern Corps, so he may eventually wear a uniform with the same pattern as others in the organisation.

State-sponsored superheroes may be disrupted in the movie, and they may eventually return to wearing their classic costumes.

These set photos may look different after post-production and finally appear on the big screen.

Superman will hit the theatres in 2025.
