Official reveals have been slow for James Gunn’s Superman, but new set photos have just dropped that have given fans a look at David Corenswet’s Superman and more. Other heroes, including Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), have also been revealed in full costume, but some fans noticed something odd about their suits.
Fans noticed that the heroes' costumes looked pretty similar in design—as if they were uniforms. Some fans have realised that this could mean one major story element regarding this group of heroes that Superman runs into.
Could Justice League International be Introduced?
A closer look at the costumes for Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl has revealed that they have the LordTech logo on their outfits. Check this out:
Though fans thought that Mister Terrific looked pretty comic-accurate when set photos first revealed him, it now looks like his costume is the base for the outfits of several other heroes in his team.
With Sean Gunn set to play Maxwell Lord in this movie, some have put together that the team that the superhero team that will be introduced in this film is Justice League International.
Justice League International’s Comic History
In the comics, the Justice League International was essentially a rebrand of the Justice League of America—‘International’ was added to make the team feel more inclusive of other members. The team was forced to introduce several new heroes at the time because characters like Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Superman were undergoing a significant overhaul. The only original League members that appeared were Batman and Martian Manhunter; new members included Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle, Mister Miracle, and Black Canary.
Going back to Maxwell Lord, he was a billionaire who ended up being the corporate sponsor for the team. He runs the Vought International to the Justice League’s The Seven if this was set in The Boys universe.
When it comes to Superman the movie, fans speculate that LordTech owns the super team in the film. It will be up to Superman to try to get them out of their corporate sponsorship and get back to the core of superheroing—which is just to do good.
Some fans noticed that the LordTech logo already looks like the letters “JL”—foreshadowing the Justice League. Should Gunn introduce the League officially, it’s probably best that it’s a name that the heroes themselves came up with rather than an existing name for a team run by a corporate supervillain.
It’s unclear when fans will get their next big reveal for Superman, but fingers are crossed that DC will do a big showcase before the end of the year.
Superman soars into theaters on July 11, 2025.
