Universal Pictures has released the second trailer for the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie based on the popular Super Mario video games by Nintendo. The brand-new preview showed us our very first look at Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) and Donkey Kong (voiced by Seth Rogen), who are both staples of the games.
The trailer also gave us a full look at the story of the film. To what may be a surprise for most fans of the source material, it looks like Princess Peach will not be portrayed as a damsel-in-distress. Instead, she will be teaming up with Mario in their fight against Bowser.
It also looks like the film will also have nods to the several Mario video games that have existed for decades including Mario Kart, which was teased during the end part of the preview.

However, one notable part about the new trailer is their minimal use of Chris Pratt's voice as Mario, a casting decision that has been criticized by fans ever since the announcement. While we heard him say the character's iconic lines, we haven't heard him in a proper conversation in any of the trailers that they released so far.
Overall, the trailer looks fun and exciting which is also helped by its visuals that are reminiscent of the contemporary Mario video games. While you may disagree with some of the casting choices, you can argue that the film itself looks like it is faithful to the source material.
The cast also includes Chris Pratt (as Mario), Charlie Day (as Luigi), Jack Black (as Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (as Toad), Fred Armisen (as Cranky Kong), Kevin Michael Richardson (as Kamek), Sebastian Maniscalco (as Foreman Spike), and original Mario voice actor Charles Martinet in an undisclosed cameo role.
