All things must come to an end, and one of them happens to be Netflix’s big hit series, Stranger Things, created by the Duffer Brothers. While little is known on what is expected to happen on Stranger Things Season 5, the actors have been pretty vocal on their feelings of the long-running series finally coming to an end soon.
“It’s something that’s so important to all of us and has just been essential to the growth that I’ve had over all of my teenage years into my 20s,” Gaten Matarazzo (who plays Dustin on the show) said during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, “It’s the defining aspect of the past 10 years of my life, practically the past decade.”
However, in spite of the actor’s excitement for the fans to see Stranger Things Season 5 end, Matarazzo admits his deep-seated fear on the show ending: “There’s kind of an excitement there, because you always want to wrap it up and see how these characters are going to finally develop one last time, and how they’re going to finish their journeys,” Matarazzo said, “But there’s also a deep fear. Not only has it been amazing, but it’s been a pretty great job security for a while. [Then it’s] back to freelance.”

There’s no denying that it’s difficult to let go of a show, both as a viewer and an actor, especially if you’ve grown on set alongside your castmates. In fact, even Millie Bobby Brown expressed the same sentiment in a previous interview.
“I’m ready to wrap up [Stranger Things Season 5]. I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now,” Brown said, “It’s been in our lives for a very long time. But I’m very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life, and open new ones up.”
To be fair, once Stranger Things ends, this opens up a whole new can of possibilities for the actors. More roles to expand to, seeing as their performances on the Netflix series has already pretty much defined how they have grown so much as actors.
An official release date for Stranger Things Season 5 has not been announced yet. In the meantime, you can catch Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 available to stream on Netflix.
