Caleb McLaughlin Trolls Fans with Stranger Things Season 5 'Sneak Peek'
Stranger Things doesn't quite stick to a strict schedule for releasing new seasons on Netflix.
Considering that the "kids" we practically grew up with from season 1 are not even kids anymore by the time the third season arrived, what's there to come in the last season?
How long do we have to wait for Stranger Things season 5, exactly? Well, Caleb McLaughlin may have just given fans the answer they're looking for. Sort of.
As seen above, the so-called 'sneak peek' involved AI-altered photos of the older versions of Maya Hawke's Robin Buckley, Sadie Sink's Max Mayfield, and his own character Lucas Sinclair, mocking the long wait for the finale season's premiere on the streamer.
Keep in mind that the Stranger Things "kids" are canonically high schoolers, whereas the actors portraying the main characters have already reached their twenties.
For now, here's what we know about the potential release date and plotlines of what to expect from Stranger Things season 5.
What We Know About Stranger Things Season 5 As of 2024
One of the Stranger Things showrunners, Ross Duffer, updated fans that they finished filming "halfway" through season 5 on July 4, 2024.
It is worth mentioning that they began shooting for the last chapter on April 13, which means they may be on the verge of officially going into post-production sooner or later! Unfortunately, no release date has been officially announced yet.
However, with the pace that they're going, it is possible Stranger Things season 5 will begin promoting through teasers and trailers in the latter part of this year or hopefully in early 2025.
Meanwhile, the storyline fans should look out for is, according to Maya Hawke, the connection of the events of season 4 and season 5. This pertains to Vecna's return, the sacrifice of El (or Will) to save Hawkins once and for all.
She also noted that each episode of the finale season is "very long", perhaps longer than what the previous season has released on Netflix.
As for the storyline, the first chapter's scene 1 happened to have been teased as early as November last year:
As fans surmised, Stranger Things season 5 may be looking into returning to the roots that started the series, aka going back to Will's birthday, otherwise known as the day he disappeared from Hawkins, Indiana.
