Steven Soderbergh has stepped in to help finish filming the remainder of The Batman Part II after Matt Reeves' temporary exit.

Deadline confirmed that Steven Soderbergh will take over as the director for the remaining production weeks of The Batman Part II following Reeves' exit.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker volunteered to help Reeves finish the DC sequel, and the two will work together and stay in touch throughout the rest of filming.

It should be noted that Reeves is still very much involved in the production remotely, while Soderbergh will be in charge on the set. Reeves will take over post-production once he is ready to return.

Soderbergh said in a statement: "I thought Matt Reeves’ work on The Batman was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film."

In a post on X, Reeves clarified to fans that he has not exited The Batman Part II, and expressed his gratitude to Soderbergh for helping him finish the movie.

"Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes," he wrote.

Details on when production will resume are still unavailable, with Soderbergh taking charge. It's not expected to affect the planned 2028 theatrical release.
