Colonel Miles Quartich has been a pivotal part of the first movie and his return in Avatar: The Way of Water is quite intriguing considering the fate of his character. Stephen Lang reveals how he got back to play the role once more after more than a decade.
In the first Avatar movie, Colonel Miles Quartich died and it was Neytiri who ended his life, but in a surprising turn of events, it has been confirmed that Stephen Lang returns as Colonel Miles Quartich which makes it intriguing on how he would return in Avatar: The Way of Water.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Stephen Lang shares how he got back for the role which started a few years ago, "The initial conversation actually happened in 2007, even as we were, we hadn't finished Avatar 1 yet."
Lang added, "And so… and at that point he mentioned that he wasn't done with Quartich, so it was nice to hear but I didn't get that enthusiastic because we didn't even know if Avatar would be a hit. Who was to even know there would be a sequel?"
Lang explained he was excited to be back, "I must say I was enthusiastic, and I encouraged him!"

James Cameron has been a pivotal person on Lang's return, "If all that happened was the Quartich became of a repeat of what he was in the first film, I don't think it would be worth doing. But that's just not the case with Jim Cameron. You know it's gonna get denser, it's gonna get deeper and more expansive."
"He's a good leader and he's loyal, you know, he's got some stuff. But now we begin to see some of the depth of the character as well. Hopefully, hopefully you see the depth," Lang concluded.
Avatar: The Way of Water is expected to explain how Stephen Lang reprises his role as Colonel Miles Quaritch. Whether he was resurrected or preserved or any other way, it's for everyone to watch when the movie arrives in theaters this weekend. Another returning actress is Sigourney Weaver who will play a different role: Kiri.
Avatar: The Way of Water will be revisiting Pandora once more and provide a new perspective on the Na'vi people as the sequel explores a new part of the planet but they are facing another threat from the people who are doing an exploration.
In another way, Avatar: The Way of Water will also feature the family of Jake and Neytiri, their children, Neteyam, Lo'ak, and Tuktirey, and their adopted kids, Spider, a human, and Kiri, a teenage Na'vi. Their family would be doing everything in their power to ensure their safety whilst Jake being torn between the two factions.
