Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Title May Allude To The Redemption Of Kylo Ren

Lucasfilm dropped the very first teaser for Star Wars: Episode IX during the 2019 Star Wars Celebration last weekend, and along with the trailer came the movie's official title, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While the name became a point of contention among fans who believe that The Rise of Skywalker feels a little bit too on the nose and tacky, others consider the title a potential source of spoilers, developing fan theories around Episode IX's name.

While some consider The Rise of Skywalker a hint at the revelation of Rey's (Dais Ridley) true origin, ComicBook.com has a theory that suggests that the title could revolve around Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) instead.

Kylo Ren might be one of the main villains of the sequel trilogy, but fans have seen conflict within the character as he struggles between the Dark Side and the Light Side of the Force. Though Ben Solo decided to go down further into the path of Darkness at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, many fans are still hoping for the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) to seek redemption in The Rise of Skywalker much like Vader did in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi.

If he does return to the light in the very end of the film, Kylo Ren could very well give Episode IX its title, The Rise of Skywalker.

Still, there are many possible outcomes of the film. What do you think The Rise of Skywalker actually alludes to? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
