Lucasfilm held the highly anticipated panel for Star Wars: Episode IX at the 2019 Star Wars Celebration in Chicago today and during the event the panel gathered together the film's main cast including main stars like Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), as well as Star Wars newbie Naomi Ackie (Jannah).
The stars were asked one by one to talk about their characters in the upcoming Star Wars entry and during her portion in the panel, Ridley was asked about her new outfit and the Force. As it turns out, that all-white ensemble that we got to see in the leaked poster for what is now called Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is actually what Rey wears in the film – the colors a possible metaphor for the Jakku Orphan being so close to the Light Side now.
Ridley was also asked by the panel's host to confirm whether or not fans are going to see new forms of the Force in the upcoming film. Though Star Wars: The Last Jedi became a contentious entry in the franchise, there's no denying the fact that the film not only deepened, it also expanded our understanding of the Force.
Though Ridley didn't try to give away too much, the actress essentially gave out a yes to the host, admitting that we'll get new Force moves in The Rise of Skywalker. Director J.J. Abrams also confirmed new moves with the Force, making The Last Jedi one film to look up to.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release December 20, 2019.
