Star Wars: The Mandalorian Reportedly Spent $15M On Each Episode

It shouldn't be a surprise that Lucasfilm and Disney are spending a lot of money on the Star Wars projects. After all, expectations are extremely high when it comes to any release from the franchise. However, it looks like The Mandalorian costs almost as much as a Star Wars movie. A new report reveals that each episode of the Disney+ series cost close to $15 million.

The report comes from the Wall Street Journal, which estimates each The Mandalorian episode at about $15 million. Considering that there will be eight episodes, the first season alone would have been made for $120 million.

But why does it cost so much? It might have a lot to do with the way The Mandalorian is being filmed. Creator Jon Favreau has revealed that they are using a new and unique process to map out how the series will appear. Although it's a pricey technique, it's also quite effective in making sure that the second season will work seamlessly with the show's first season.

It was previously reported that Favreau is already developing The Mandalorian Season 2. The Lion King director admitted that he is already writing the second season and that the next chapter is already in pre-production.

It certainly looks like Lucasfilm and Disney are already looking towards the future and are pretty confident that The Mandalorian will perform magnificently later this year.

The first season of The Mandalorian will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 12.
