Star Wars: The Force Awakens Almost Introduced Han Solo Differently

While The Last Jedi has divided the fanbase, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still considered by many to be a solid entry in the franchise, even if it is a bit too similar to A New Hope. The film was able to introduce new characters like Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron whilst also adding to the stories of Luke, Leia, and Han, the latter of whom died in this movie, fulfilling Harrison Ford's long-running wish.

Speaking of Han Solo, a piece of concept art from The Force Awakens reveals that Han almost had a completely different introduction. Many love the scene where Han and Chewbacca get in the Millenium Falcon Rey and Finn stole. Turns out that there were a number of pitches for Han's introduction, which isn't surprising since that's how script drafts work.

Christian Alzmann, the art director of LucasFilm, shared art that shows Han outdrinking his companions in some kind of cantina. They probably didn't go with this since the movie would have faced even more A New Hope comparisons but this would have been neat. Still, the amount of homages from The Force Awakens is a little much so some scrapping isn't too bad.

It is neat seeing how Han's reintroduction could have looked like, though we all knew that his death was coming. There were a lot of sad people over the character's death and his younger adventures in Solo: A Star Wars Story didn't help.

Star Wars: Episode IX is coming out this December. The Force Awakens is now available on Blu-Ray.
