Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Finally Reveals Jedi Master Yaddle’s Dark Fate

Star Wars’ latest animated series, Tales of the Jedi, is an anthology series that takes key characters from the franchise and explore more of their stories, histories, and roles in the Star Wars saga. Although the first installment of the series Tales of the Jedi centers around Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, the six short stories about them also reveal several Star Wars lore. One reveal from the series that surprised a lot of fans was the dark tale of what happened to Jedi Master Yaddle.

Yaddle was first introduced in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as a Jedi Master who was a member of the Jedi Council. Yaddle stood out to fans in the scenes of the Jedi Council as she is a female member of the same race as Master Yoda and Grogu from The Mandalorian. Even though Yaddle was introduced as a background character, her appearance made a lot of fans speculate about how she was related to Yoda.

At the end of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Master Yaddle was never seen again in the Star Wars: Prequels, and the canon was retconned to explain that she stepped back from the Jedi Council after the Battle of Naboo. Although that explanation was a small fix, it didn’t address the question of what happened to Yaddle during the End of the Republic, the Imperial Era, or even the post-Empire era. Being that she’s from the same race as Yoda, Yaddle could’ve potentially lived through all of those years of the Skywalker Saga.

In Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, a long-running theory was finally confirmed that Yaddle was one of the Jedi who died during Palpatine/Darth Sidioud’s rise to power. In fact, it was Count Dooku who killed Yaddle, her friend, when she found Count Dooku meeting with Darth Sidious on Coruscant.

As it was shown in Tales of the Jedi, Yaddle started sensing darkness in Dooku early on during Qui-Gon Jinn’s funeral. It was during this time that Dooku really slipped into anger with both the Jedi and Sidious over losing his former student to Darth Maul. It’s when Dooku confronted Sidious that Yaddle discovered them and tried to save him from Darth Sidious. Instead, Dooku sided with his new master and killed Yaddle in a duel.
