Star Wars: Solo Composer John Powell Wants to #MakeSolo2Happen as Well

Ever since Solo: A Star Wars Story hit its one year anniversary last May, there has been a strong movement to #MakeSolo2Happen online. The campaign apparently got the attention of director Ron Howard and Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo, and now composer John Powell is showing his support.

He posted up a photo of Han's lucky dice on his Instagram:

It would make sense that Powell would show his support in the film since it did give him the win for Score of the Year at the International Film Music Critics Award. Solo also got him nominated for a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition. There was even an outcry for the Oscars for snubbing Solo in the music department, but who cares about the Oscars nowadays?

Though there has been a lot of strong support for Solo 2, Lucasfilm has been very quiet about coming back to the franchise. With the movie underperforming last year, it looks like Lucasfilm is putting the anthology films in a halt in order to re-asses their market strategy.

While I'm fine if Solo 2 ends up as a Disney+ series, I'd still prefer a movie since spectacle is a fourth of what makes Star Wars what it is. Then again, maybe a Star Wars live-action show can still feature decent effects. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian turns out when it debuts later this November.

Solo 2 has not been officially announce, but you can come back to Star Wars' world of gangsters and smugglers when The Mandalorian debuts on Disney+ on Nov. 12.
