Ever since the end of May, fans of Solo: A Star Wars Story have been petitioning Lucasfilm to greenlight a sequel to the movie that they originally planned. It's been months of #MakeSolo2Happen, and what's interesting is, Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo is teasing a new movie project that ‘he did not see coming.' Could it be Solo 2?
Suotamo replied to an IMDb post asking followers about their favorite ‘I did not see that coming' movie moment. Suotamo replied with:
With his next film being Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which has been officially announced, I don't think it would make sense that he would be teasing material for that film. Then again, Suotamo has only been playing Chewbacca for his whole acting career, and the surprise could be he's finally getting a non-Star Wars role.
Of course, fans are still hoping that Solo 2 eventually gets the greenlight. Though the movie was considered to have underperformed in the box office when it came out, it was hardly because of the quality of the film. If anything, it was a perfect storm of problems from the sloppy marketing by Disney, to the release date close to Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2.
Fans who actually saw the film have loved it, and even the Last Jedi haters were said to have been back onboard right after they saw Solo.
We don't know what Suotamo is teasing for now, but hopefully it's not something lackluster. Hopefully the Solo 2 announcement comes during the Star Wars panel at SDCC 2019. Fingers crossed.
For now, catch Suotamo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
