Star Wars fans might be eager to check out different theories and leaks that have been making the rounds online before the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it seems like some are upset about a potential spoiler that just showed up in a brand new TV spot for Episode IX.
Now that The Rise of Skywalker's only a few weeks away from its big premiere, Lucasfilm has been releasing various clips to help promote the third and final entry in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The latest TV spot titled Sith Dagger for the highly-anticipated movie shows Rey (Daisy Ridley) holding a very important item while she travels together with Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Chewie, and the rest of the team.
One might imagine the Star Wars fanbase celebrating the spoiler, but it seems like some fans are upset that Lucasfilm decided to show the dagger.
Check out some of the things fans have been seeing down here:
Most of the complaints seem to focus on the design of the blade. Star Wars fans who've seen The Clone Wars have suggested that this dagger might be Lucasfilm's version of the Dagger of Mortis, an item which some expect Rey to use when she kills Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). Given all of the things that fans have been expecting from the blade, we understand why everyone would be disappointed by the weapon's design.
Admittedly, the design does look really strange. J.J. Abrams' conceptual artists could have gone with a much better look for the blade.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
