A popular Star Wars fan theory speculated on the mysterious identity of the father of fan-favorite The Mandalorian character Grogu.

Since the series' first episode, the character has captured the hearts of many fans and he instantly became a favorite for many. He and Din Djarin will soon become the star of their own big-screen adventure in an upcoming movie.

However, there are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding the backstory of Grogu including his parental lineage. The franchise has yet to address his true origins and who gave birth to him.

A post from a Reddit user speculated on the identity of Grogu's father and suggested that it might not be Yoda after all.

They theorized that it might be revealed later on that Grogu's origins will have similarities to Anakin Skywalker.

"In chapter 1 of The Mandalorian, we learned that The Child/Grogu is 50 years old. Since The Mandalorian happens 9 ABY, we can conclude that Grogu was born 41BBY, which is when Anakin Skywalker was born (I've seen a lot of Instagram posts about how Grogu and Anakin are the same age)," they wrote.

"In Episode I, The Phantom Menace, Shmi tells Qui-Gon that 'There was no father.' In Legends (Not sure if this is canon), Anakin was born because of a ritual that Plageuis and Sidious held that created so much Dark Side energy that the Force had to neutralize it by creating Light Side energy which is what impregnated Shmi."

The Reddit user noted, "I'm thinking Favreau and Filoni want to canonize this, possible show it in The Acolyte show."

The theory concluded, "Grogu's mother is either Yaddle or some other female member of Yoda's species, but he has no father. Because just like Anakin, Grogu was born of the Will of the Force, with no dad, and that explains why he's so powerful at an age that's considered an infant for Yoda's species."

So far, none of the MandoVerse shows have addressed the parental lineage of Grogu, but this is a plausible theory as it also explains why he is now an important character in the Star Wars universe.

Most of the fans who commented on the post were also in agreement with the theory, but they also cautioned that it would also mean that there are too many chosen ones and this could pose some problem for the other parts of the universe.
