There's been very little info about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker being released, but as we wait for the first trailer of the third and final sequel trilogy to make its way online, new theories about the film continue to circulate every day.
One of the most recent theories to make its way online is all about Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her stance in the Force. The Jakku Orphan might have been leaning towards the Light Side of the Force ever since her introduction in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but a new theory suggests that she might dabble further into the Dark in The Rise of Skywalker.
While her all-white outfit in the teaser for the film might suggest her journey towards the Light Side, a Star Wars fan on Reddit suggests that Rey might actually struggle with the Dark Side in the film. Her costume actually prove to be a misdirect from Abrams, a twist suggesting her turn to the Dark Side. The theory suggests that Palpatine might try to manipulate Rey in the film, leading her towards the Dark. This in turn, will force Kylo Ren to take a step into the Light.
Though we've yet to see what side Rey really stands on in Episode IX, we've seen the character dabble with the Dark Side before. Remember when the Dark Side tempted Rey in Ahch-To in Star Wars: The Last Jedi ? Rey had no hesitations because she desperately wanted to know more about her family. What if Palpatine tempts her in the same way in The Rise of Skywalker? Let's wait and see.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
